Refund & Cancellation Policy
Wisconsin Jail Notary
We understand that circumstances involving incarcerated individuals can change quickly. Our goal is to maintain a fair refund and cancellation policy while recognizing that jail notary appointments require advance scheduling, travel, facility coordination, and reserved notary time.
By scheduling and paying for a Wisconsin Jail Notary appointment, you agree to the following Refund & Cancellation Policy.
Cancellation Before the Appointment
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible.
More Than 4 Hours Before the Scheduled Visit
Appointments canceled more than 4 hours before the scheduled visit may be eligible for a refund of the standard service fee, less any non-refundable expedited, processing, document preparation, printing, delivery, or other services already performed.
You may also request to reschedule the appointment, subject to availability.
Less Than 4 Hours Before the Scheduled Visit
Appointments canceled or rescheduled less than 4 hours before the scheduled visit may be subject to a cancellation fee.
Same-day, priority, evening, weekend, holiday, and other expedited service fees are non-refundable once the appointment has been accepted and the notary’s time has been reserved.
Once the Notary Is En Route
Once the notary has departed for the correctional facility, the service-call and travel charges are non-refundable.
If the appointment is canceled after the notary is en route, or the notary is turned away after arriving at the facility, no refund will be issued for the service-call, travel, expedited scheduling, or other services already performed.
Facility Delays, Lockdowns & Denied Access
Wisconsin Jail Notary does not control the operations of jails, prisons, detention centers, or correctional facilities.
A facility may delay, restrict, reschedule, or deny access because of:
- Lockdowns
- Head counts
- Staffing issues
- Security procedures
- Court appearances
- Medical appointments
- Inmate movement or transfer
- Facility visitation policies
- Changes in the inmate’s custody status
- Other circumstances outside our control
If the notary arrives as scheduled but the facility delays or prevents the notarization, the service-call and travel charges remain non-refundable.
If another visit is required, a new service or travel charge may apply.
Inmate Unavailable, Transferred or Released
It is the customer’s responsibility to provide accurate information regarding the incarcerated individual’s identity and location.
If the inmate has been transferred, released, moved to another facility, is attending court, or is otherwise unavailable when the notary arrives, the completed travel and service-call charges are non-refundable.
We may provide a quote for a second visit or travel to another facility.
Inmate Refuses to Sign
A notary cannot force or pressure anyone to sign a document.
If the incarcerated individual refuses to sign, refuses the notarization, does not understand or agree to the transaction, or otherwise chooses not to proceed, the appointment and travel charges are non-refundable.
Identification or Notarization Requirements Cannot Be Met
Completion of a notarization is subject to applicable notarial requirements.
If the notarization cannot legally be completed because acceptable identification or another required element is unavailable, charges for travel, appointment time, waiting time, and services already performed are non-refundable.
Incorrect, Incomplete or Unusable Documents
The customer is responsible for providing the correct documents.
Wisconsin Jail Notary is not responsible for determining which legal document you need or whether a document will accomplish your intended legal purpose.
A notarization may not be completed when a document is incomplete, contains prohibited blank spaces, lacks required information, or otherwise cannot lawfully be notarized.
If the notary has already traveled to the facility, service-call and travel charges remain non-refundable.
Witness Requirements
The customer must notify Wisconsin Jail Notary before the appointment if a document requires witnesses.
Do not assume that correctional officers, jail employees, facility staff, other inmates, or the notary can serve as witnesses.
If a notarization cannot be completed because required witnesses were not arranged or permitted by the facility, charges for services already performed and travel are non-refundable.
Same-Day & Priority Service Fees
Same-day and priority service fees compensate Wisconsin Jail Notary for expedited scheduling and reserving a notary on short notice.
These fees are non-refundable once the same-day or priority request has been accepted.
Payment of a same-day fee does not guarantee that a jail or correctional facility will provide immediate access to the inmate.
Evening, Weekend & Holiday Fees
Additional fees may apply to appointments scheduled after 5:00 PM, on weekends, or on holidays.
Once the appointment has been accepted and the requested appointment time has been reserved, these additional scheduling fees are non-refundable.
Waiting-Time Charges
The standard appointment includes the amount of waiting time stated when your service is booked.
Additional waiting-time charges may apply when facility delays exceed the included waiting period.
Waiting-time charges already incurred are non-refundable.
When a Full Refund May Be Issued
If Wisconsin Jail Notary is unable to provide the accepted service because of a cancellation or scheduling problem caused by us before the notary travels to the facility, the customer will receive a refund for the service that was not provided.
This does not include circumstances caused by the correctional facility, incarcerated individual, customer, documents, witnesses, identification issues, or other circumstances outside Wisconsin Jail Notary’s control.
Refund Processing
Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method whenever possible.
Banks and payment processors may require additional business days for an approved refund to appear in your account.
Notarial Fees vs. Service & Travel Fees
Payment for a jail notary appointment may include separate charges for travel, scheduling, waiting time, printing, document handling, expedited service, and other services in addition to any fee associated with the notarial act.
A notarization that cannot be completed does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund of travel, scheduling, waiting-time, or other services that have already been performed.
Questions About a Cancellation or Refund?
Please contact Wisconsin Jail Notary as soon as possible if circumstances surrounding your appointment change.
